BOTTLEWORKS

Athens, Georgia

The Bottleworks was originally the Coca-Cola bottling plant for Athens, GA. It consisted of several Historic buildings as well as some more recent structures. The program included careful removal of the anachronistic building elements, stabilization and rehabilitation of the Historic structures and the construction of a new multi-use building. The new building is visually in-keeping with the Historic structures and also creates an urban edge at the corner of the property. This project was successful at integrating this once walled-off property back into the urban fabric of Athens. The rehabilitation of the Historic structures qualified for Section 106 Tax Credits under the National Historic Preservation Act.
